4 Important Steps to Changing Habits

Change can be a challenge, and most often it’s our mindset that we struggle with.

The important thing to remember is that we have to be realistic about our goals, and recognize that getting results takes time and consistency with our nutrition and training.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we can’t expect to have overnight results when we stuck to the plan for one full day.

So how do we solidify healthy habits in the first place?

  1. Have specific and measurable goals set to begin with. Don’t just say “I want to lose weight” instead say “I want to lose 10lbs in 6 weeks.” Then take the steps to map that goal out on paper, and put it in a place you’ll see every day!
  2. Replace negative thoughts about the changes you’re making with positive ones. Reaffirm that what you’re doing is serving you, fostering a healthier body and mind, and that it is the better alternative!
  3. Progress pictures are so important! As hard as it is to take them, I recommend doing it even if you never share with anyone...photos tell a story that the scale won’t, so if you’re not seeing pounds coming off, take a look at your body changes and how you feel.
  4. If you have a bad day, don’t dwell on it! We are human, it happens to everyone! Take a look at where you slipped up, then take inventory of how you can learn and grow from the experience/circumstance.

The bottom line is this: changing habits takes time...it’s not a linear, straightforward process!

We have to continually evaluate our goals and remember WHY making the change(s) is so important.

When we can visualize what we want, and that why resonates deeply within us, it’s easier to take the steps necessary to reach our next goal and have continued success in every area of our lives moving forward.
Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don't. ~Steve Maraboli

Good Post. Start small and be consistent is the start you want. Once you find your discipline, Scale Up. Take change as a challenge and work towards your goals.
