Do you know how awesome castor oil is?!? My first experience with this was when I was a little girl, visiting my Grandma. I wasn't feeling well and she rubbed my chest and back with it to help me sleep, and I woke up the next day like a brand new typical rambunctious Tomboy 👧🏽 I forgot about castor oil for quite a while but started using it again a few years ago after doing some research about the castor bean and all the benefits of the oil extracted from it. Now it's a daily addition to my skin and hair care regimen, and I also use it as a carrier oil for my essential oils 💧 Here are just a few of the many benefits you can enjoy from it:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 💁🏽Stimulates hair growth, and is often used to make homemade lash thickening mascara! ................................................................ 💆🏽It makes an excellent massage oil that can ease joint pain and muscle soreness ................................................................. 🏃🏻It has antifungal/fungicidal properties to help treat some skin conditions like ringworm and athletes foot👟 ............................................................... 💧A natural humectant, it locks moisture into skin and hair, great for troublesome dry/cracked winter skin! ................................................................. 😴Castor oil can help you sleep when rubbed lightly on the eyelids, I also use it with lavender essential oil as a post bath time chest rub for my munchkin 👦🏼 ................................................................... It might be winter but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some tropical flavors! I whipped up this delicious Piña Colada Protein Smoothie, just 4 ingredients 🍹
1/2 ripe banana 🍌 1/2 cup fresh or frozen pineapple 🍍 2 scoops @drinkorgain Sweet Vanilla Bean Protein 💪 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk 🥛 For a more frozen blend in 1 cup of ice ❄️ 🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌🍍🍌 We celebrated my husbands birthday this past week, and seeing as it was his special day, I decided to make him one of his favorite baked goods for breakfast: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. We both have a mild obsession with all things pumpkin, so I was extra happy to whip up a batch of these delightfully fluffy bites of goodness before we headed off to church. Pumpkin does some amazing things in baked goods, making a dense, moist dough that is really enjoyable in cakes and muffins...but let me tell you something you don't already know, the recipe! Youll need: First, preheat your oven to 350F. Next, prep a 12 muffin tin with nonstick baking spray (I use PAM). In a medium bowl, combine your dry ingredients: 1 cup Flapjacked Buttermilk Pancake mix 1 1/4 cup All Purpose flour (I used unbleached organic flour) 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt In a larger bowl, mix together: 1-15 oz can of pumpkin purée 1 egg 1/2 cup Orgain Protein Almond Milk (unsweetened) *substitute with regular almond/coconut/dairy milk if desired 1/4 cup olive oil 2/3 cup maple sugar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Fold in the dry ingredients until well incorporated, then lastly mix in 1/4 cup of Enjoy Life Mini Chocolate chips. Using an ice cream scoop, divide the batter evenly between the muffin cups. Finally, pop them in the preheated oven and bake for 22-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from heat and let them cool a few minutes before diving in! I hope you will enjoy this recipe, we sure did!
The other day when I can home from the gym, I was famished and apparently so was my hubby after a couple of hours wrangling our 2 1/2 year old son!
I was craving breakfast for dinner so I decided to whip up a super scramble to get lots of nutrients into one pan. Fresh veggies sautéed first then scrambling the eggs together looked delicious enough, but I couldn't help topping with a perfectly ripe avocado and some fresh cilantro 👌 Here's what you'll need: 2 whole eggs 1/2 cup egg whites 1/2 cup zucchini, chopped 4 Baby Bella mushrooms, sliced 1/4 cup grape tomatoes, sliced (I also used some Sunburst tomatoes that were on hand) 2 tbsp sliced red onion 2 cloves crushed garlic 2 cups mixed greens 1/2 avocado, sliced 2 tbsp fresh cilantro 1 tsp of my All Purpose Blend seasoning (https://instagram.com/p/BLtMfFRgxg1/) Olive oil spray Putting it all together: First prep a large skillet, spraying with olive oil and heating to medium low. Add in the garlic, onions and the rest of the veggies, sautéing until they start to get tender. Meanwhile, whisk together the eggs, egg whites and seasoning. When the veggies have cooked a few minutes, add in the eggs and scramble the mixture until all there's no more egg running around the pan. Serve onto 2 plates, then top each with 1/2 of the sliced avocado and the Cilantro. That's about as easy as it gets for breakfast, brunch or brinner if you ask me! The other great benefit of this scramble is that you can dig into this plate and not feel bloated or heavy, even though it boasts a whopping 30 grams of protein per serving! This really hit the spot and was the perfect meal to help with recovery and maintain those "gym gains" I'm working so hard for! I hope youll enjoy thos recipe, and please let me know when you get a chance to try it, I'd love to hear from you! See MFP nutritional info below 👇 As we head into the new year there will be a flood of products and companies making promises to people eager to meet their resolutions for 2017. Looking back over the past year and the progress I was able to make in my health and fitness journey, one product really stands out that aided me throughout the struggles of old injuries flaring up. Sweet Sweat by Sports Research was a product I came across through fitness enthusiast and gym owner Jen Heward. She used the product with the accompanying waist trimmer in many of her workouts and showed the immediate, tangible results of what appeared to be "super sweat". Of course, being skeptical of any new product, I decided to do a little research and see if this workout enhancer was all it was cracked up to be. What caught my eye when reading their product description was the following:
If you havent seen my "Ice Breaker" video, you may not know that I have struggled over the years with joint pain in my knees and shoulders, stiffness and aching in my low back as well as troublesome shouler impingement after two rear-ending accidents in 2013. Needless to say, exercise has been a struggle at times with setbacks over the past year that requiredrepeat sessions of physical therapy as recently as this past fall. After reading the claims of the Sweet Sweat Product, I felt it was worth a try to see if it would alleviate my discomfort during exercise. I ordered the waist trimmer as well because I've never been a big sweater, and felt it could help kick things up a bit during my workouts. I took the leap of faith, and after almost one year of using this product, I'm happy to say its changed my life in a big way! |
