Why you need Asparagus in your life!

If you’re not adding asparagus to your meal prep, you need to start!
.
This is one of my favorite vegetables, and up until recently I had no clue of the many benefits the spears we grew up harvesting fresh every summer in Michigan had to offer.
.
First, asparagus is a very low carb veggie that’s loaded with fiber which is great for healthy digestion and reducing bad cholesterol levels.
.
It’s also packed with antioxidants (free radical fighters) and folic acid that promotes DNA synthesis in our bodies...this plays a key role in reducing many disease processes that can lead to certain health concerns like cancer and other inflammatory illnesses.
.
Not only that, asparagus is a great source of vitamins C, A, E and K, all of which aid in reducing inflammation, support the immune system and bone health as well!
.
So the next time you consider skipping this vegetable in the grocery store, remember all of the amazing benefits it brings to the table!
.
I personally love it tossed with a little olive oil, sea salt, fresh cracked pepper, then (taking a bunch of 3-5 spears) wrapped in turkey bacon and roasted! Ahhhhmazing!

What diet is best for me?

What is the best diet for you?
.
To be honest, it’s the one you can stick with consistently.
.
There is no one-size-fits-all plan.
.
Often it takes much trial and error to find what will work best for you.
.
The key is CONSISTENCY.
.
Be willing to commit for at least 8 weeks and truly follow the plan to see how your body responds.
.
Pay attention to your energy levels, cravings and of course results.
.
So often we start a plan and when we don’t see results in the first week, we give up because it “didn’t work” for us.
.
In reality, our need for instant gratification means we don’t spend long enough following the guidelines for our bodies to adjust and get into a groove.
.
So the next time you want to switch things up in pursuit of your heath and fitness goals, give it an actual chance by sticking with it.
.
Make a firm commitment and be sure to log your progress (weight, inches, moods, digestive responses etc) through the full duration before moving on to something else.
.
It will be a process, but once you find method that works best for you, it will make all the difference!
.

Stop Pursuing Comfort

Pursuing what’s comfortable often leaves you exactly where you stand at this very moment.
.
This was me for several years, and instead of growing as a person, I was just kind of floating from one “normal” to the next.
.
The funny thing about comfort is that it’s really not all it’s cracked up to be.
.
It’s lacking direction.

.
Void of new ideas.
.
Often it holds us back from trying new things.
.
And it gives us a false peace that deep down we know is just a cover for standing still in life.
.
So the next time you are looking to find your “comfort zone”, run the other direction.
.
Change things up.
.
Take on a new challenge.
.
Make a new friend.
.
Do something you never thought you’d have the courage to.
.
Live....with no regrets as to what might have been.
.
.

The Power of Starting Now

Why don’t we approach our health with the same urgency as other areas of our lives?
.
“I’ll start tomorrow.”
.
“Maybe on Monday...”
.
“Well, I ate a bad lunch so the rest of the day is shot anyway...”
.
This has all too often been me in the past.
.
Making excuses and putting off what I KNEW needed to happen to improve myself for no legitimate reason.
.
When you realize how damaging this is in the long term, is it really worth it to keep putting your best self off?
.
Think about how many YEARS are wasted for all the times you’ve said “maybe tomorrow” or “next week” that turned into more time regressing instead of moving closer to your goals.
.
No matter the circumstances, whether you fall down or have a bad day, don’t hesitate to pull yourself out of the mire.
.
Reach out to someone you trust and ask for help, or even just an ear to listen in those times...you don’t have to fight alone.
.
Know that every day you say yes instead of making excuses is an opportunity to experiencing something wonderful.
.
Start now. You’ll be thankful you did. ❤️
.
